We would like to invite you to participate in my research if you have never had a major head injury and are aged between 18 and 45.

We are seeking research participants with and without an Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Asperger’s) diagnosis to investigate the relationship between emotion processing, autistic traits and the brain responses to social information.

Participation requires only 1 session at the Science Centre of the University of Auckland main campus and will require approximately 2 hours of your time.

You will be asked to complete a computerized task followed by two self-report questionnaires, one on autism and one on empathy. During the computerised task, you will watch a series of face images on a computer screen while your neurophysiological responses are being recorded via electroencephalograph (EEG) electrodes which will be placed over your scalp. EEG is completely safe and painless. EEG only records the naturally occurring brain activity. There is no electricity running through the EEG net.

All data collected will be completely anonymous.

As a thank you for your time, you will be given a $20 Countdown voucher.

If you wish to find out more about the research or are interested in participating, please e-mail Ozge Karakale at [email protected]
